Live Well - Artisan Soap

OUR SOAP

It's vegan- (and therefore, by definition, vegetarian-friendly). We use no animal fats or derivatives, and our soap bars are safe both for you and the environment.

Our suppliers never include the use of animals in the creation, testing or manufacturing process. We are guilty of testing on willing family and friends!

PALM OIL

Palm oil is a popular ingredient used to make Commercial and Artisan soap. The oil allows the soap bar to create a beautiful lather. The use of palm oil is contentious, as oil production companies are accused of aiding South American rainforests' decimation.

The good news is that smaller artisan soap makers are sourcing palm oil that has been sustainably and ethically produced. There is also the danger that boycotting palm oil could cause economic hardship to those employed within the palm oil industry.

LIVE WELL STATEMENT

Our suppliers only use Sustainable Palm Oil. Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO) from New Britain Palm Oil, one of the world leaders in sustainable Palm oil practices supporting both the environment and local smallholders. They were one of the first companies to produce a sustainability report. https://www.newbritainoils.com/statement-in-support-of-sustainable-palm-oil/

GLYCERIN

This is important as it's a by-product of the Artisan soap making process and is a fantastic humectant. Humectant means it helps retain the skin's moisture, and although Glycerin is not a moisturiser, it does help lock in the skins natural sebum. Natural soap will not make your skin dry and itchy.

Commercial soap manufacturers usually extract the Glycerin during the production process - this is then used to create and manufacture other products, such as body lotions and leaves the commercial bar of soap with a high detergent content which strips the skin of its sebum.

Glycerin is found in all our luxury soap bars, and for that reason, it's perfect for people with skin sensitivities and dry skin.

Vegan-Natural Soap Free from Artificial Colours or Fragrances, Parabens, Detergents (SLS), Alcohol & Petrochemicals. Although these ingredients are approved for many skincare products, they can cause skin irritations and dry the skin.

What is SLS?

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) is found in many everyday health and beauty products as it lathers up to create a cleansing foam. Many hand soaps, face washes, shaving creams and even toothpaste owe their foaming quality to SLS. Despite being marketed as safe to use, it has been identified as a skin irritant, particularly if you suffer from dermatitis.

Do you frequently need to use a moisturiser after washing your hands with a commercial bar or liquid soap? You probably won't if you switch to creamy glycerine soaps. The generous amount of cocoa butter in every bar plus the Glycerine will ensure soft clean, and moisturised hands.

Our natural glycerine rich soaps are kinder to your skin than commercially manufactured soap.

SMALL BATCH PRODUCTION

Live Well soap is crafted by an expert, long-established natural-vegan soap maker, who has won awards and written a book on everything soap! After manufacture, our soap bars are stored on wooden racks and left to cure for 4-6 weeks, then hygienically wrapped, labelled and sent on to us.

Our soap is made in small batches using the cold process method, which means all the goodness is locked into every bar. Yes, you will pay more per gram than a commercially made bar with added detergent, but like everything else, handmade, Artisan soaps are considered a luxury item.

Some of the natural ingredients that go into Artisan luxury soap are Shea Butter, Olive Oil, Castor Oil, CSPO Palm Oil, Coconut Oil, Cocoa Butter, French Green Clay and pure therapeutic grade essential oils.
