Our poor feet put up with a lot of abuse! Whether through years of tottering in sky-scraper heels, wearing ill-fitting shoes or being encased in boots during the colder months. Once our English summer finally makes an appearance, we are desperate to get out our sandals, flip flops and pretty wedges.
Oh, the horror of discovering we have neglected our feet, which are badly in need of some special treatment and are definitely not looking their best!
Foot Treatment
The first step to treat your feet is regular exfoliation. You can’t beat a pumice stone for getting rid of hard skin on your heels, and this, used in conjunction with an exfoliating cream will make a huge difference.
There are various battery & mains operated devices that will file away hard skin, but they are not cheap, and a pumice stone or foot file can be safely used in the shower or bath.
Pedicure
If you fancy a real treat, then the benefits of a professional pedicure are the way to go!
A regular visit to your favourite spa or beauty salon will help keep feet looking pretty, nails trimmed, calluses controlled, and skin moisturised. Also, a foot massage helps to relieve tension and stimulate circulation.
Our feet need fresh air and to help with our overall health, it is nice to be able to kick off our shoes and get back to nature!
Remember that scene in Pretty Woman where Julia Roberts suggests Richard Gere might get over his jet lag by removing his shoes and socks and walking barefoot? It is a great stress buster to walk barefoot outside - you should try it!
